Xiuwen's village welcomes corn harvest

In September, over 300 mu (20 hectares) of seed corn in Xiaoba village in Xiaoqing town, Xiuwen county, are entering the harvesting season. 

The corn seed production there is called the "golden industry" that strengthens the collective economy of Xiaoba village.

In 2024, the village signed a contract with crop seeds supplier Guizhou Fanjingshan Seed Industry Co, selling at a guaranteed price of 4.40 yuan ($0.62) per kilogram.

 That generated over 240,000 yuan in revenue for the village collective throughout the year.

This year, the village has continued the cooperation model, refined its field management, as well as tracked and guided the entire process from sowing to fertilization. The growth of corn has been more prosperous than last year and the enthusiasm of villagers for harvesting has also increased.

Since the start of the year, Xiaoqing town has enriched the level of agricultural industry and expanded the scale of various sectors. These include corn breeding, mountain silver flower planting and the yellow peach industry.

From the "golden industry" of a single village to the "diversified layout" of the entire town, Xiaoqing town is nowadays injecting a continuous stream of vitality into rural revitalization through practical measures.
