The founding conference of the International Plant Protection Cooperation Organization (IPPCO), hosted by Guizhou University and organized by the State Key Laboratory of Green Pesticides, was held on Aug 10 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The event brought together officials from the Guizhou Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Guizhou Provincial Department of Education, and ASEAN University Network (AUN), alongside representatives from domestic and international universities, research institutes, and Guizhou University's faculty and students.
At the event, Guizhou University President Song Bao'an and AUN Secretary-General Thanapan Laiprakobsup signed a memorandum of understanding to build the IPPCO.
The conference was presided over by Guizhou University Vice-president Zhang Dalin, with Vice-president Wang Jinrong chairing the signing and inauguration ceremony. Professor Wang Qiao, a member of Royal Society of New Zealand and Guizhou University professor, was appointed IPPCO secretary-general.
The IPPCO aims to foster the training of plant protection professionals, advance research, and promote global collaboration in plant protection. It will also support faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and collaborative graduate programs among member countries, providing a platform and technical resources to address major plant diseases, pests, and weeds.
