Village in Xiuwen promotes citrus fruit industry

Nearly 5 million kilograms of citrus fruits in Taoyuan village, Xiuwen county, have recently entered their picking season, attracting many tourists and buyers.

The citrus fruit industry in Taoyuan village has a planting history of over 40 years, covering more than 3000 mu (200 hectares). The village has formed a characteristic industry of tourism, sightseeing, and picking experience to help farmers increase income.

Taoyuan village is in the subtropical monsoon climate zone, with abundant sunshine and rainfall and fertile soil, providing unique conditions for citrus growth. Among the more than 1,000 households in the village, two-thirds are engaged in the cultivation of citrus fruits.

"The village and Guiyang Culture and Tourism Co are jointly building an integrated project of agriculture and tourism, and have launched a one-day trip project integrating fruit picking, hot spring experience, and rural tourism. We will continue to enrich the project content, create a demonstration village for rural vitalization, and let the people share the development dividends," said Zhang Yaoyu, a village representative.
