Xiuwen integrates culture and tourism during 14th Five-Year Plan

Xiuwen county promoted the integration and development of culture and tourism during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), exploring resources such as Yangming culture, red culture, and ecological resources.

Xiuwen is a renowned eco-cultural tourism county with rich cultural heritage, diverse tourism resources, and a strategic transportation location. It has achieved rapid tourism industrialization in recent years through various measures, including the upgrading of tourism products, the development of market entities, and the improvement of service quality.

Xiuwen promoted the construction of a national demonstration zone for the integrated development of the cultural and tourism industry, the development of the summer economy, and the enrichment of tourism diversity. It has established one provincial-level tourist resort and one 3A-level tourist attraction, released more than 10 integrated cultural tourism routes, and been selected as one of the most attractive cultural tourism counties and one of the top 100 counties with comprehensive tourism strength in China.

Xiuwen currently has 11 sports tourism enterprises above the designated size, and received 9.16 million tourists and a comprehensive tourism income of 9.68 billion yuan ($1.38 billion) in 2023. In 2024, the county welcomed 10.05 million tourists and generated tourism revenue of 10.64 billion yuan. Tourism has become the county's leading tertiary industry and an important driver of economic and social development.

Chen Junli, director of the Xiuwen culture and tourism bureau, said that the county will focus on national, provincial, and municipal development strategies during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), continue to deepen the integrated development of culture, tourism, and sports, and inject more momentum into Xiuwen's high-quality development.
