Xiuwen promotes integrated agriculture and tourism development

Over 1,200 mu (80 hectares) of plum blossoms in Xinlong village, Xiuwen county, are in full bloom this March, bringing the mountains and fields to life.

During flower-viewing and fruit-picking seasons, a rural homestay run by villager Xu Zhenglin bustles with vitality. The homestay features a 5-mu pond for tourists to fish, allowing them to experience the joy of rural life. With authentic rural flavors and warm services, Xu's homestay brings him an annual income of more than 100,000 yuan ($14,540).

To overcome transportation bottlenecks, the village has approached relevant departments and sought project funding, combining two village roads into one. This road, known by villagers as the "white ribbon", not only facilitates residents' travel but also paves the way for agricultural products to reach the market and for tourists to visit the village.

Luo Hefi, a village representative, said the village is utilizing its favorable climate to develop its summer resort economy, with plans to convert idle houses into distinctive homestays, standardize operations, and improve services, building a rural tourism system that integrates summer relaxation, farming experiences, and food tasting.
