Guiyang Food Expo brings local flavors, global tastes together

The 2026 Guiyang Food Expo opened on April 30. While showcasing the charm of local exquisite cuisine, the event created an immersive experience that integrated food exhibitions, industrial cooperation, and cultural exchanges.

In the exhibition and sales area, nine themed zones presented a dazzling array of offerings. Among them, the Guiyang Flavor Living Room, the core exhibition zone, brought together leading local brands. Signature Guiyang snacks such as Siwawa (silk doll roll), Changwangmian (noodles with pig intestines and blood curd), and spicy chicken were all on display, accompanied by traditional intangible cultural heritage (ICH) crafts such as sugar painting and sugar figure blowing, offering an in-depth presentation of the cultural heritage of Guizhou's time-honored brands and ICH cuisine.

The International Food Specialty Exhibition Zone and the Premium Guizhou Products Export Zone worked in close coordination, bringing together high-quality imported goods from around the world and authentic agricultural and specialty products from Guizhou, thus building a commercial bridge connecting local flavors with the international market.

The CTA Light Meal Experience Zone and the Trunk Dining Zone were presented as trendy markets, creating an immersive experience tailored to young consumers. Additional zones, including the Ningxia-Chongqing Specialty Food Zone, the Food Industry Innovation Zone, and the Family Leisure Zone, were also open, fully meeting consumers' needs for a one-stop expo experience.

A highlight of this year's expo was the Guizhou Flavor Competition, in which 12 restaurants, selected as "Guiyang Famous Catering Establishments" and representing the benchmark of Guiyang's catering industry, presented and offered tastings of their signature dishes.

While creating immersive consumption scenarios, stimulating market vitality, and unlocking consumption potential through special activities, the event also underscored the role of consumption in driving industrial upgrading, thereby promoting the professionalization, branding, and international development of Guiyang's catering industry.
