An outdoor camp cluster and a 7-kilometer light hiking trail opened on June 27 in Taoyuan village, Xiuwen county, using the Taoyuan River to develop a suburban outdoor resort destination that integrates outdoor sports, camping, and village‑style cafes.

Following the river, the hiking trail features gentle terrain suitable for families with children, hiking enthusiasts, and corporate team‑building activities. The trail is open free of charge year-round.

Prior to this initiative, the only large‑scale industry in Taoyuan village was mandarin orange cultivation. Boasting a 30‑year‑plus history, it covers 4,000 mu (266.67 hectares) of farmland and generates an annual output value of nearly 20 million yuan ($2.97 million).

The program marks a crucial step for the village in its transition from monocultural farming to integrated agricultural tourism development, aiming to convert tourists to the Taoyuan River Scenic Area into local consumers and address pain points such as limited rural industrial diversity and weak collective-economy performance.
