Wanyiwo is a modest natural limestone cave where Wang Yangming lived shortly after arriving in Longchang, Xiuwen. During his stay, he devoted himself to studying the Book of Changes (I Ching), giving the cave its name. This is also where he wrote the famous essay Record of Wanyiwo, marking an important stage in the formation of his philosophical thought.
Recognized as a Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Unit in 1998 and later designated a Major National Cultural Heritage Site by the State Council in 2006, Wanyiwo remains an important destination for visitors interested in Chinese philosophy and cultural history.
