Amid the mountains of Xiuwen county, kiwifruit orchards stretch across the hills heavy with ripe fruit, empowering Guiyang's green development.

As a well‑known kiwifruit production base in China, Xiuwen launched its kiwifruit cultivation in 1988. Over more than 30 years of development, it has adhered to the principles of "green, high‑quality, safe, and eco‑friendly", advancing quality upgrading, brand building, and standardized planting.

To date, the total kiwifruit planting area across the county has reached 167,000 mu (11,133.33 hectares), ranking first in Guizhou province and third nationwide, covering 108 administrative villages.

In 2025, the fruiting area stood at 130,000 mu with an annual output of over 100,000 metric tons. The industry has driven the development of 169 enterprises, 130 cooperatives, and around 7,000 grower households, employing nearly 30,000 workers.

In March, Xiuwen kiwifruit became Guizhou's first special agricultural product to obtain full‑lifecycle carbon footprint certification. The full‑lifecycle carbon footprint of producing one kilogram of Xiuwen kiwifruit generates 1.3 kg of carbon dioxide. This builds solid low‑carbon credentials for the product to compete in international markets.

Xiuwen will further advance green agriculture and low-carbon practices, turn ecological strengths into development gains, fueling rural revitalization.
